Senior Accountant
Position Overview
Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting operations for a construction and manufacturing organization in California. This role is responsible for full-cycle accounting with a strong emphasis on accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close activities.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across multiple accounting functions in a deadline-driven environment. Experience supporting construction or manufacturing operations is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting
- Perform full-cycle accounting activities including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and general ledger maintenance
- Utilize QuickBooks to record financial transactions and maintain accurate accounting records
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and industry requirements
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
- Oversee all aspects of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including invoice processing, customer billing, collections, and vendor payments
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and cash receipts
- Reconcile AP and AR subledgers to the general ledger and resolve discrepancies promptly
Month-End & Year-End Close
- Lead and support month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation and posting of journal entries and account reconciliations
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for accruals, prepaid expenses, AR, AP, and other balance sheet accounts
- Assist with financial reporting, variance analysis, and close-related deadlines
- Support audit requests and provide documentation as needed
Reporting & Collaboration
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records to support audits and internal reviews
- Collaborate with internal teams to support financial objectives, reporting needs, and compliance initiatives
- Assist with ad hoc reporting and financial analysis as requested
Qualifications
- Proven experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and general accounting functions
- Senior accounting experience, including direct involvement in month-end and year-end close
- Background in construction and/or manufacturing environments strongly preferred
- Proficiency in QuickBooks; experience with additional accounting systems a plus
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team

- Monday through Friday
- First shift
Compensation & Benefits
- $38-50 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
